Attention to detail makes the difference between things that function properly and things that have to be repaired or replaced constantly. I recently finished adding new gates to my properties to replace old worn out ones. I made it a point to improve the design and function of all of them. Improving the design and construction of my gates required me to think about what I was doing and invest in the process. Not to sound religious, which is not my intent, but the process required the same kind of zeal you need to have faith. Everything we make has life. We can either make something with a little life or we can make something with an enormous amount of life! My gates were built to serve all the patterns I could observe, and fit well into the overall scheme of things. Now, I observe the details of my gates and see that these were the essential elements, no more no less.
