Green Street Remodel – Completed 2009

Archway between new location of kitchen and enlarged living room
The Negri Residence required a complete gut and rethinking of space use. We started by deciding that the living and dining spaces needed the best views available. We put the kitchen in the least desirable area and transformed it into the heart of the apartment.
The circa 1920′s brick fireplace and water closet went bye bye. All the hinged doors were replaced with sliding doors, keeping the original openings and detail, that added character to the spaces. We removed a wall that increased the living room area, but added a sliding wall to allow for guestroom privacy. The access to the deck was relocated to the dining area and enlarged to allow more light to enter the room.
Fifty percent of the floor was rebuilt level and all the windows were replaced. The circulation patterns were increased at least 50%, and the natural lighting increased and made more even.
